Composite materials are materials that have precise properties or combinations of properties achievable with the combination of at least two different conventional materials. Polymeric materials play a fundamental role in many sectors due to a series of chemical-physical properties, with lightness being the most important. In the automotive sector, polymeric materials allow us to meet the need for weight reduction and therefore consumption and emissions, in accordance with current legislation.

The mechanical characteristics of polymeric materials on the other hand, are generally lower than metallic materials, and more sensitive to temperature increase. However, thanks to the combination of polymeric matrices with different fillers, it is possible to combine the characteristics of polymer lightness with mechanical resistance, the thermal or electrical properties of the reinforcing phase. Polymeric matrix composite materials open the doors to many metal-component replacement applications, particularly light aluminium alloys, with consequent weight-lightening and design optimization, also resulting in significant economic and environmental advantages.

Unity is strength: Roboze Carbon PA

Roboze Carbon PA is a perfect example of strength in unity—a polyamide with high thermal resistance and short carbon fibers making it possible to use high-performance composite materials, useful in metal replacement and FFF technology.

With its tensile strength of 138 MPa, tensile modulus of 15 GPa and HDT of 200°C, Roboze Carbon PA is one of the most powerful materials from a performance and mechanical standpoint in the field of polymer 3D printing.

These exceptional properties have been achieved through meticulous material design, starting from the choice of polyamide matrix, to the in-depth study of the length and nature of the short fiber, all the way down to the reinforcement disposition within the matrix. The powerful potential of this material allows for metal replacement applications and solutions for unlimited industry sectors.
