3D printing is radically transforming the production of critical components in the rail transportation sector, offering innovative solutions and unprecedented advantages. In particular, the use of industrial 3D printing to create ventilation grills for the ECS (Environment Control System) plant is revolutionizing the supply and maintenance chain, offering superior efficiency and greater precision.

The ventilation grills, being components directly exposed to users, require particular attention and periodic maintenance. However, thanks to the partnership between a major European rail transport provider and Roboze, an innovative solution has emerged.

Traditional methods for manufacturing ventilation grills have significant limitations, especially related to welding processes. The need to ensure precision and robustness of welds poses complex challenges and requires specialized skills. Furthermore, the use of lightweight materials adds further complications to the production process, requiring greater attention to ensure strength and lightness at the same time.
